Mens Olympic 2000m Tandem 1956 (Cycling) - 1956

Ian Browne and Tony Marchant needed determination and a stroke of good fortune to win gold at the 1956 Olympics. After being eliminated, they were granted a second chance when a pile-up involving two other teams resulted in an additional repechage being run. They won that and then, with inspired riding, won their way through the quarter and semi finals to beat Czechoslovakia for the gold in the finals.

They are that the person conducts his of her life with dignity, with integrity, courage, and perhaps most of all, with modesty. These virtues are totally compatible with pride, ambition, and competitiveness.
