Patrick Mills - Basketball

From 2003 to 2007 Patrick was named an All Australian Junior basketballer. He has been a Basketball Scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport from 2005 to 2007, and named Australian Junior Player of the Year in 2007.

In 2006/2007 Patrick was captain of the Australian Mens U19 National Team which placed 5th in the World championships in Serbia in 2007. Patrick was also a squad member of the Australian Senior Mens team which toured Europe during the same year.

While at the AIS Patrick was very proficient in his use of the study hall and with his excellent time management skills and regular attendance at school he was able to maximise and balance his school with the required basketball commitments.

Patrick is planning to go to St Marys College in the USA to further his basketball and gain additional academic qualifications. Patrick has been 'earmarked' by the Head Coach of the Australian Mens Senior Team as a future Boomer and he is also committed to gaining selection in the Mens Senior Team for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

In 2017 Patty was named the 7th Ambassador for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. A message that was spread far and wide pre Comm Games: Ambassador Video.

When considering the stature of an athlete or for that matter any person, I set great store in certain qualities which I believe to be essential in addition to skill. They are that the person conducts his of her life with dignity, with integrity, courage, and perhaps most of all, with modesty. These virtues are totally compatible with pride, ambition, and competitiveness.
