Jack Bobridge - Cycling

South Australian cycling rising star Jack Bobridge, who only took up competitive cycling in 2004, had the wonderful experience of being part of the Olympic Cycling team in Beijing in 2008. Jack was a member of the Australian Men's Team Pursuit in Beijing where they rode off for the Bronze medal, ultimately finishing 4th overall.

At the recent UCI Track Cycling World Championships staged in Pruszkow, Poland (25 to 29 March 2009), Jack has an outstanding championships - finishing second in the Men's Individual Pursuit and then collecting a second silver in the Men's Team Pursuit - a wonderful result for a 19 year old.

In late 2008, Jack took Gold in the 4000 m Individual pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup held in Melbourne, after having triumphed in the 4000m individual pursuit at the Oceania Championships in Adelaide, just weeks ealier.

In early 2009, Jack (SA - Team AIS) continued his campaign of victories this time on the road with the gold medal in the Mars Australia U23 men's time trial. Jack then went on to claim his third Australian Title of the year with this victory in the elite men's 4km individual pursuit, at the Australian Track Cycling Championships in SA. This added to his road race and road time trial titles he won in Ballarat.

In addition to his ambition to ride in another Olympics Jack also hopes one day to ride for a Pro Tour Team.

When considering the stature of an athlete or for that matter any person, I set great store in certain qualities which I believe to be essential in addition to skill. They are that the person conducts his of her life with dignity, with integrity, courage, and perhaps most of all, with modesty. These virtues are totally compatible with pride, ambition, and competitiveness.
