Joe Ingles - Basketball

Joseph is an integral part of the future of National Senior Men's Basketball Program in Australia. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 Joe was named an All Australian Junior. In March 2006 he was the first player to sign with the South Dragons National Basketball franchise after graduating from the AIS where he spent 2 years as a basketball scholarship holder. He is currently a full time basketballer.

In his first match in the NBL he created NBL history by scoring the most points by an Australian on debut. His excellent first season in the NBL earned him the 2007 NBL Rookie of the Year award. Joe is a squad member of the Australian Senior Men's team, and was a member of the Senior Mens tour to Europe in 2007.

While Joe is listed as a Guard/Forward he has the versatility and ball handling to play at point guard. Joe says that his ulltimate aim is to be a member of the starting 5 of his NBL club and the Australian Mens Team. Many suggest that Joe is certainly destined to represent Australia and even one day may play in the NBA.

When considering the stature of an athlete or for that matter any person, I set great store in certain qualities which I believe to be essential in addition to skill. They are that the person conducts his of her life with dignity, with integrity, courage, and perhaps most of all, with modesty. These virtues are totally compatible with pride, ambition, and competitiveness.
