Jemma Holt is a lifesaver who was awarded a Tier 2 Scholarship within the 2025 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program.
Jemma was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and started lifesaving at the age of five after her learn to swim teacher told her about a local lifesaving club. She instantly fell in love with the sport and never looked back. Through the early stages, Jemma showed promise through her never give up attitude, humbleness, and willingness to learn.
Jemma won her first ever Australian medal at the 2022 Australian Surf Lifesaving championships in the U15 Surf Race. After a few years of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Jemma then made her first Victorian teams for surf and pool rescue, where she was named in the U16 Aussie Barra squad for Royal Lifesaving Australia.
Jemma continued to have success in the pool and surf, making numerous Australian finals and top 10 finishes at the Australian Surf lifesaving Championships, and winning numerous medals in the Australian Pool Rescue Championships.
After a successful 2023 Australian pool rescue championships where she won 2x gold, 6x silver and 1x bronze medal in her age group, Jemma was selected on her first Australian team where she competed in the 2023 Commonwealth Lifesaving championships in Windsor, Canada in the open development section. Here, she helped Australia bring home the overall win, and won 3 individual gold, 1 individual silver, and 3 team gold. A few weeks later, Jemma travelled to New Zealand where she competed on the Australian Surf Lifesaving team and raced at the 2023 New Zealand Pool Rescue Championships.
In January 2024, Jemma raced at the Royal lifesaving Australia Championships, where she was named the Youth Team Captain for Victoria. Through her guidance, Victoria won the girls category, and come second overall. Jemma stacked up an impressive medal tally which saw her win the overall U19 female point score.
Jemma was then selected to represent Australia in the Youth Australian team at the 2024 World Lifesaving Championships, being the 3rd ever Victorian based athlete to make this team. This event will happen later this year. At these championships, Jemma helped Australia be crowed world champions for the second year in a row. Jemma achieved 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the championships, as well as a world record with her teammates in the 4x50m obstacle relay!
Jemma hopes to continue to improve through the sport, whilst inspiring and helping as many other athletes as possible.

I see it as an acknowledgment of all the hard work and dedication to my sport that has allowed me to achieve what I have.
