Noah Bradford is a biathlete and cross country skier who was awarded a Tier 2 Scholarship within the 2025 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship & Mentoring Program.
Noah grew up having a family trip to Smiggins in NSW every winter. He first put on skis at the age of two. When Noah was in Year 4 he was introduced to cross country skiing by his school’s snow sports team and quickly developed a passion for the sport.
In 2019, Noah started training seriously for cross country skiing and began to have success, while pursuing other sports such as football and rowing. During the COVID-19 pandemic Noah was able to focus and continue his training on roller skis and started participating in biathlon training with a laser rifle.
In 2021, Noah competed in his first biathlon race in Austria, having never competed in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other races that season qualified him to compete in the Youth World Championships in the USA in 2022. During the Australian 2022 domestic winter season, Noah placed first in all biathlon races (including the Australian Open Championships) and was selected onto the Australian Junior Biathlon Team, in addition to having success at the Australian Cross Country races winning the Junior Open Championship and being selected onto the Australian Junior Cross Country Team.
Noah competed in IBU Junior Cups in Europe, World University Games in the USA and IBU Cups in Canada during the 2022/2023 season. Noah also achieved IBU Q points qualifying him to remain on the IBU Cup for the following season.
In Europe, during the 2023/2024 season, Noah achieved some excellent results earning him a wildcard to compete at the World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czechia. In the same season, Noah also achieved the minimum qualification standard for World Cup by achieving a top half of the field result at the Junior World Championships in Estonia.
Noah now awaits a wildcard invitation to compete at his first World Cup. Noah’s IBU Q Points have also met the minimum qualification standard for the Olympic Winter Games. Noah hopes to continue having success in the upcoming European season in order to earn a wildcard for the Milano 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Alongside Noah’s Biathlon pursuits he is actively completing a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law at Macquarie University, with aspirations of becoming a Corporate Lawyer after sport.
“Receiving this scholarship is great privilege, I am really excited to benefit by gaining skills and insights from the opportunities offered by SAHOF which few other scholarship programs provide. My goal is to represent Australia at World Championships and the Olympic Games. I’m committed to using what I learn from this program, not just for my personal benefit, but I believe that with the support of this scholarship, I can not only advance my own sporting career but also help inspire other athletes and develop the sport of biathlon in Australia.” – Noah Bradford on being selected as a 2025 Scholarship Holder.
