2024 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship & Mentoring Program NOW OPEN!

The Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) Scholarship and Mentoring Program was introduced to support the desire of our Members as Mentors, to leave a legacy that’s greater than their sporting achievements alone.

Our Mentors’ unique value is their ability to be role models, not just to those looking to follow in their athletic footsteps, but also in the broader community. People from all walks of life can learn from them about mindset, and use their values of perseverance and commitment to achieve their own goals in life and in sport.

The SAHOF Scholarship & Mentoring Program sits among the most elite programs in Australia, if not the world. Connecting the nation’s next generation of athletic talent with the greats of Australian sport and providing Tier 1 Scholarship Holders with unrivalled access to one-on-one mentoring from a SAHOF Member; a once in a life time opportunity.

S&MP Sponsor Update

Three Cheers for Volunteers

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our sporting communities, and the Sport Volunteer Coalition is on a mission to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve.

Formed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) in 2022, the Coalition includes experts from across the sport sector who have codesigned a four-year Action Plan. The Plan aims to raise awareness of the role volunteers play; enable more Australians to volunteer; and ensure they have a great experience in sport.

In year one, there was a strong focus on celebrating volunteers and a highlight was National Volunteer Week from 15 to 21 May. Over 250 sport sector stakeholders jumped on board with the ASC’s 3 Cheers for Volunteers campaign, which reached over 2 million Australians on social media alone.

As the Action Plan moves into year two, the coalition is calling on the entire sport sector to get involved and work together to support and empower their volunteers.

As ASC CEO Kieren Perkins OAM explained, it is more important than ever to recognise and enable sport volunteers.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have dealt with thousands of wonderful volunteers over the years and we must ensure we’re doing everything we can to attract and retain volunteers and ensure they reflect the diverse communities across Australia,” Mr Perkins said.
