DATE OF BIRTH

Ashleigh ‘Ash’ Ervin is a netballer who was awarded a Tier 3 Scholarship within the 2023 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program.

Ashleigh was born in Baulkham Hills, NSW, and started playing for her local team Model Farms Netball Club in 2010 (7 years old). Being substantially taller than her teammates, she soon realised the opportunities that would arise through this game.

Ash played for Baulkham Hills in Sydney for three years before she and her family moved to Queensland, where she started playing for Broad water Netball Club at Northern Gold Coast Association (NGCNA), cementing herself as a formidable shooter in the Premier League for NGCNA.

Ash represented the Underage State teams through the years 2019-2022. Although Nationals were cancelled for 2020 and 2021, she was named in the Australian Underage Australian Squads for both years.

In 2019, Ash was elevated into the U17 State team where she played for the side at Nationals in Brisbane.

In 2020, Ashleigh trialled for the Bond University Bull Sharks where she made the Ruby side. After a year as a shooter with the Bull Sharks, Ash realised that her skills could be further developed on the other end of the court as a Goalkeeper.

After a strong year, Bull Sharks moved her into the Sapphire team for 2021. Ash had a breakthrough year in Sapphire being the starting goalkeeper (GK) and was the recipient of the defender of the year award for her team.

In 2022, Ashleigh played for the Ipswich Jets in the Sapphire League and went to Australian Institute of Sport to further her skills there.

Ash is working towards obtaining an SSN contract while she works as a Queensland Firebirds Training partner and studies a Bachelor of Arts, Major in History, Minor in Politics, Security, and International studies at Griffith University with a goal of becoming a history teacher.

“I am extremely honoured to be accepted for this prestigious scholarship. As a young athlete, I believe this program will help me greatly in my endeavour to become the strongest athlete I can possibly be. My goal is to go all the way, and I am extremely excited to be supported by this program for 2023.” –  Ash Ervin on being selected as a 2023 Tier 3 Scholarship Holder.
