Kristy Appleton is a water skier who was awarded a Tier 3 Scholarship within the 2024 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program.
Hailing from Brisbane, Queensland, Kristy first started waterskiing socially at the age of four and has been competing from the age of 11. At the age of 14 Kristy managed to win in all disciplines including Slalom, Trick and Jump meaning she took the gold in overall for the Under 14 girls division.
Kristy has achieved many goals including seven junior state records, two junior Australian records and two junior Oceania records. She has also managed to claim a Junior Moomba Jump title and a Junior US Masters title. When competing at her first junior worlds in 2023 she managed to place 2nd in Jump, only being 10cm off first, and placed 3rd overall.
Having only competed at three Nationals, Kristy has taken three Junior Australian Jump titles, two Junior Australian Trick titles and two Overall Junior National titles home. These achievements have already made for Kristy to be ranked currently 1st in the world for the Under 17 girl’s category and 21st in the world in the women.
Due to Kristy’s fierce dedication to her training, she has already secured her spot to compete at the next US Masters for Jump to back up her title and is looking to be a participant in the Australian team to compete and represent her country at the next Under 17 Junior Worlds competition held in Canada in July 2024.
