Maddison Brooks is an Australian Hockey player and Olympian who was awarded a Tier 2 Scholarship within the 2026 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship & Mentoring Program.

Born in 2004 and raised in Hobart, Tasmania, Maddi has always had a passion for sport. She played cricket, soccer, touch football, basketball and athletics growing up, but hockey was always her favourite. She began playing at the age of four for her school team, Corpus Christi, before joining the OHA Hockey Club in Under 7s. With both parents and her siblings also playing hockey, the sport runs deep in the Brooks family.

Maddi’s talent was clear from a young age. At just nine years old, she was selected for her first Tasmanian team, representing the state at the U12 National Championships. She went on to represent Tasmania at every junior national level, and now competes at a senior level for the Tassie Tigers in the Hockey One League. A major highlight in her junior career came when she was named Player of the Tournament and Leading Goal Scorer at both the U15 and U18 National Championships in her top age years.

In 2022, following impressive performances for Tasmania, Maddi earned selection in the Australian U21 team to compete in the Oceania Cup against New Zealand. The following year, at just 18, she made her debut for the Hockeyroos in front of a home crowd in Hobart. In 2024, Maddi was selected as a travelling reserve for the Paris Olympic Games and, due to team injuries, went on to compete at the Games.

Off the field, Maddi is passionate about inspiring the next generation of hockey players. In addition, she is currently studying a Bachelor of Business (Sport Management) at Deakin University and works as an Associate Consultant at KAP Research while continuing her elite hockey career. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her friends and family. After sport she wants to combine academic knowledge in sport management with her on-field experience to work within sporting organisations, while also continuing to support and inspire others through coaching, mentoring, and community engagement.

“I am incredibly honoured to be selected as a SAHOF Scholarship recipient. To be recognised by such a prestigious organisation, alongside Australia’s sporting greats, is truly inspiring. This opportunity will provide invaluable guidance, support, and resources as I continue to pursue my goals in both sport and life. I’m grateful to be part of a program that not only recognises success but also supports and invests in the growth of young athletes throughout their journey.” – Maddison Brooks on being selected as a 2026 Tier 2 Scholarship Holder.
