Phoenix Sparke is a biathlon athlete who was awarded a Tier 3 Scholarship within the 2024 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program.

Phoenix lives on a farm in NSW Southern Highlands and is a student at Oxley College. Phoenix enjoys most sports and excels at rugby union, rugby league, mountain biking, touch football, water polo, athletics, xc skiing and biathlon.

Phoenix loves the challenge of balance, strength and stamina needed for cross-country skiing. Combining shooting takes the focus to another level! The thrill of combining a physical and a mental pursuit means biathlon is exciting in many ways. His goal is to represent Australia at the 2024 Youth Winter Olympics and 2026 Winter Olympics.

Phoenix was recently named as a member of the Biathlon Australia Junior Team and the Snow Australia XC Junior Team.

Outside of sports, Phoenix enjoys his family, nature, the outdoors, and building things.

“To receive a SAHOF scholarship is an honour and a privilege. I am looking forward to connecting with athletes who have travelled this path before me and learning from their experience and wisdom. Having SAHOF to guide me on the next stage of my athlete journey will be invaluable, as will the financial assistance to help me achieve my goals this year of success in Biathlon at Youth Olympic Games” – Phoenix Sparke on being selected as a Tier 3 Scholarship Holder
