Rory Meehan is a sailing athlete who was awarded a Tier 3 Scholarship within the Sport Australia Hall of Fame 2026 Scholarship and Mentoring Program.
Rory has been sailing since the age of seven, developing his skills in a range of vessels including Pacers, Flying 11s, and 29ers. In early 2022, he transitioned into the iQFOiL class—an exhilarating discipline that combines traditional windsurfing with cutting-edge hydrofoiling technology.
In July 2025, Rory achieved a major milestone by becoming the U19 iQFOiL World Champion at the Youth World Championships in France. His long-term ambition is to compete against the world’s best in top-level international regattas and ultimately represent Australia at the Olympic Games. His aspiration for life after sport is to encourage, coach and support young sailors.
“Being a successful SAHOF Scholarship recipient means a lot to me. It recognises my hard work and helps me continue chasing my dream of representing Australia at the Olympics. This support makes a real difference as I work to compete at the highest level in iQFOiL windsurfing.” – Rory Meehan on being selected as a 2026 Scholarship Holder.
