Nineteen year old, Dani Samuels achieved her second A qualifier in the Discus at the World Athletics Tour Meeting in Melbourne at Olympic Park on Thursday February 21. Dani was one of the inaugural SAHOF Scholarship holders in 2006/2007. With a win in the Discus at the Australian Athletics Championships and Selection trials in Brisbane in late February she will certainly be bound for Beijing.
Aaron Rouge-Serret, who along with Dani was one of our inaugural Scholarship holders, is also part of the 2007/2008 group. Aaron had the opportunity to compete in Melbourne, against the World’s fastest man in Asafa Powell. Aaron has been running extremely well this season, with good performances at all the Athletics Grand Prix meetings, including a PB over the 100m. Aaron is currently part of the Australian relay squad and is certainly aiming to be part of the Australian Olympic team heading for Beijing.
Congratulations to both our young stars and we wish them the very best in the coming weeks and months leading into the Beijing Olympic Games in August.
