Jack Bobridge is a cyclist and Olympian who was awarded a Scholarship within the 2009 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program he was paired with Phil Smyth as his Mentor.
Jack was born in Adelaide in 1989 and only took up competitive cycling in 2004.
Four years later, Jack finished 4th at the Olympic Games in Beijing as part of the Men’s Team Pursuit. That same year, he won gold in the 4000m Individual Pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup in Melbourne and won the same event at the Oceania Championships.
2009 was just as successful for Jack. He finished second in the Individual Pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships and won another silver medal in the Team Pursuit as a 19-year-old. His strong form then took him to a gold medal in the 4000m Individual Pursuit at the national track championships.
Jack then swapped his track bike for a road bike and reached more podiums. Riding for the SA-Team AIS, he won U23 Men’s Individual Time Trial and the road race at the Australian road race titles in 2009.
