Kate Kyros is an equestrian rider who was awarded a Tier 3 Scholarship within the 2025 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program.

Kate is the most decorated young rider in Australian dressage history. Commencing with her first Australian record in the beginning of 2023 she continues to break records paving a previously untravelled path for future Australian equestrians.

These include being:

  • The first Australian to win a dressage Nations Cup Gold Medal
  • The first Australian to win a dressage Nations Cup Silver Medal
  • The first Australian to be ranked inside the FEI Dressage World Top 10
  • The first Australian to have two horses ranked concurrently in the FEI Dressage World Top 5
  • At number 2, the highest-ranked Australian dressage rider ever
  • The first Australian dressage rider to win international dressage competitions across 3 continents in a single season
  • The First Australian to compete at the Invitational Dressage Young Rider at the World Equestrian Festival – CHIO Aachen
  • Dual silver medallist and most successful Australian in the 100-year history of the World Equestrian Festival – CHIO Aachen
  • First Equestrian Athlete to be named as the Bond University Sportsperson of the Year

Kate’s journey began when she was gifted her first pony for her 10th birthday. From the beginning, she was unstoppable competing in show horse classes across the country. 6 months later Kate qualified for and attended her first Equestrian Australasia Show Horse and Rider Championships, where she was victorious as the Open National Champion.

Since then, Kate has come a long way from the little South Australian girl spending her weekends riding her ponies at local agricultural shows across rural Australia. Kate is the product of the many great Australian horsemen and women who have shared their considerable skills and time for which she is forever grateful.

Kate is now based in the Gold Coast, Queensland completing a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws at Bond University. With her two teammates Chemistry and Intro K, Kate looks forward to a bright future in Australian dressage with her ultimate goal being Olympic team selection.

“I am honoured to be a SAHOF Scholarship recipient. It is amazing to be recognised for my hard work and dedication as an equestrian athlete amongst so many other talented young sportspeople. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that SAHOF has opened for me and look forward to connecting with other like-minded athletes. Thanks to SAHOF, together as young athletes I am sure we can continue to build the future of Australia and it’s strong sporting culture on being selected as a 2025 Scholarship Holder” – Kate Kyros on being selected as a 2025 Scholarship Holder
