Talia Woodroffe is a Pistol Shooter who has been awarded a Scholarship within the 2023 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship.

Talia was born in Sydney, Australia and relocated to Mildura at a young age. For as long as she can remember, Talia has been involved in the sport of Pistol Shooting as the third generation in her family. It had always been her dream to join the family sport and one day wear the green and gold at the Olympics. Talia competes in both the Junior (21 and under) events, as well as Senior (open to all ages).

Talia started competing in 2018 at the age of 12, and in 2019 competed in her first State Championships, where she won two State Titles in both Victoria and New South Wales, as well as competing in her first National Championship. Talia has consecutively won the Victoria State Title for Junior Women’s Air Pistol since 2019 and is the current State record holder.

After the full reopening of the sport after COVID-19 lockdowns, Talia made her name in Pistol Shooting by taking out her first Junior National Championship in 2022 at the age of 16. She also held five State Titles across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland that year. In 2023, Talia defended her Junior National Title and won her first Senior National Title at the age of 17.

Talia made her international debut the same year at the 2023 ISSF Junior World Championships in Changwon, Korea. Talia is looking forward to what the future holds within her sporting aspirations.

“Having the opportunity to be a successful SAHOF Scholarship recipient is a major achievement for me. Coming from a lesser-known sport, it gives me the opportunity to share my love for Pistol Shooting and provides me with assistance in overcoming financial hurdles in the future which will help assist my ability to reach my full potential as I grow as a young athlete balancing sport, study, and life. I am very excited to see what my future with SAHOF entails” – Talia Woodroffe on being selected as a 2024 Tier 3 Scholarship Holder
