Overall Crystal Globe for Ben Tudhope!

2019 SAHOF Scholarship Holder Ben Tudhope has taken home the Overall Crystal Globe for the 2019/2020 season shortly after taking home double Silver in Spain!

Ben is still receiving unrivalled support from SAHOF Member, his Mentor Nick Farr-Jones AM (Rugby Union).

Cameron Shields’ Mentor Graeme Lloyd taking support to a new level

2019 Scholarship recipient Cameron Shields (Motor Racing) and his Mentor, SAHOF Member Graeme Lloyd (Baseball) may seem like an odd pairing, given their completely different sporting backgrounds however, that’s the beauty with the SAHOF Scholarship and Mentor Program – these two were purposely paired, given Graeme’s experience in relocating to a different country and seeking sponsorship, while dealing with day-to-day life, all without the ‘normal’ close support of family and friends – all subjects Cameron is dealing with now.

Needless to say, these two will continue to kick goals and have secured a lifelong friendship with unlimited support like no other.

Caitlin Parker qualifies for Tokyo 2020!

The raw emotion of 2015 Scholarship Recipient Caitlin Parker qualifying for Tokyo 2020 in the women’s boxing middle weight 69-75kg is captivating.

Five years after Caitlin’s official acceptance of her Scholarship, her SAHOF Mentor Adam Gilchrist AM (Cricket) is still in contact providing invaluable advise and support.

Thank you Gilly for your continued support of this superstar!

Gold medal streak for Skateboarding sensation Hayley Wilson

Power duo Hayley Wilson (Street Skateboarding) and Kevin Sheedy (AFL Coach) are continuing their strong Mentor/Mentee relationship since being paired in October 2019.

Hayley is also powering through her competitions, taking first place in the Oceania Street Skateboarding Championships, Australian Skate Park Leagues Street Skateboarding Nationals and tallying up Olympic ranking points at the same time.

Jack Denahy’s break from boxing and unrivalled support from his Mentor

Jack Denahy is a 2020 Scholarships Holder and is paired with SAHOF Member Sarah Fitz-Gerald AM (Squash) as his Mentor.

Jack has made a very difficult decision to not compete in the Tokyo 2020 trials. After boxing full time for 5 years, and not taking the appropriate rest times in between tournaments and international trips, Jack felt extremely flat and unmotivated. After seeking professional advise, it was diagnosed that he was experiencing significant burn out and is taking the time to take a step back from boxing to find love for the sport again and ensure he is mentally strong enough before stepping back in the ring.

SAHOF, Jack’s Mentor Sarah Fitz-Gerald and the AIS will continue to support Jack. We couldn’t be more proud of Jack for doing what is right for him, especially seeking advise from all of his contacts at such a young age. We look forward to supporting Jack throughout his journey, both in sport and in life.

Stay tuned for a full video on Jack’s decision and his athletic journey.
