In the 2011 State of Origin series, the 30th in the annual best-of-three contests between Queensland and New South Wales, the Queensland team made history by stretching its winning streak to a record six successive titles.
The final and deciding match of the series, watched by 52,498 fans at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, marked the end of the State of Origin career of the great Queensland skipper Darren Lockyer, playing in his 36th representative game. Queensland had won the first match, in Brisbane, 16-12, and NSW the second, in Sydney, 18-8. The decider was won in Brisbane, 34-24. Queensland hooker Cameron Smith was awarded the Wally Lewis Medal as player of the series.
Queensland was coached by another legend of the game, Mal Meninga.
