Alex was born in Malaysia and then lived in Holland and Oman before returning to Adelaide at the end of 1998.

Alex’s has made a very rapid rise through the cycling ranks, especially in throughout 2011 – 2013.

In 2011 he represented Australia at both the Junior World Track Championships in Moscow and the Junior World Road Championships in Copenhagen, winning 2 Junior World Championships on the
Track and breaking a World Record in the Team Pursuit. He then joined the Elite Men’s Track Endurance Program, and within 2 months had won a Gold and Silver Medal at the Elite Track World Cup in Astana, a Silver Medal in Beijing and then Gold in London with the Men’s Team Pursuit riding the 3rd fastest time in history at that time.

Alex then went on to represent Australia at the 2012 Track World Championships in Melbourne in April, and was then selected as a member of the 2012 Australia Olympic Track Cycling Team at just 18, the 2nd youngest cyclist ever to make the Olympic Team.

Despite not riding at the Olympics, Alex gained invaluable experience, and this has increased his determination to make the Australian Olympic Team for Rio in 2016.
