The Australian public, always eager of an athlete’s success were even more demanding during the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney 2000. Where a few days earlier Cathy Freeman had lit the Olympic Flame, she now stood in front of a packed capacity Stadium Australia ready to contest the Women’s 400m final. Dressed head to toe in a lycra body suit, Freeman powered around the track winning gold and rising to meet the expectation of a nation.
