Max Taylor is a sailor who was awarded a Scholarship within the 2008 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program, he was paired with John Bertrand AO as his Mentor.

Max was born in Melbourne in 1989.

Max enjoyed great success as a junior in the 420 class with his partner Sam Kivell and was soon invited to join the Yachting Victoria Junior and Youth teams, as well as the Victorian High-Performance Program and the Australian Sailing Development Squad.

The expert coaching Max received translated into results and Max won multiple national titles with Sam in the 420 class. The pair also competed in various ISAF events and won the silver medal at the Youth World Championships.

A move to the 470 class was the next step and the pair competed in international regattas in Europe and at the World Championships in 2008. A year later, they finished 3rd at the ISAF Sailing World Cup – Sail Melbourne event against world class opposition.
