Adam Scott AM joined Australia’s sporting greats when, showing nerves of steel he won a sudden-death playoff to become the first Australia to win the coveted US Masters.
What is remarkable about this achievement is he is not only the first Australia to win the Green Jacket but he bounced back from a devastating loss, nine months earlier rafter throwing away a four stroke lead with four holes to play in the British Open.
Scott’s US Masters win sits comfortably alongside Australia’s greatest sporting triumphs, including Australia II winning the America’s Cup, Rod Laver’s Grand Slam in the one year, Peter Thomson’s five British Opens, Cadel Evans’ Tour de France victory and the great Sir Donald Bradman’s many batting records.
